ROWE SUNSPEED® : A lubricant
with a small carbon footprint
With its base oils made from 100 % biomass, ROWE SUNSPEED® is a sustainable alternative to mineral oil-based lubricants. The carbon footprint of the biosynthetic base oils, according to the cradle-to-gate assessment, is approx. -0.50 kg CO2-equivalent per kilogram of base oil. This negative figure comes about because the base oil is derived from plants which bind more CO2 during their growth phase than is released during the production process. So a negative becomes a positive for the environment.
The base oil's origin is not the sole contributory factor to the sustainability credentials of ROWE SUNSPEED®. The basic properties and the formulation itself ensure excellent cold start characteristics which in turn help to reduce and optimize fuel consumption. In addition, very low evaporation losses reduce oil consumption overall.
ROWE products are also fully CO2-compensated and are supplied in containers made from more than 50 % recycled materials.

These vegetable fats are extracted and refined to produce vegetable oils which consist primarily of pure hydrocarbon molecules and are less prone to contamination compared with conventional base oils.
