Alternative lubricants

Modern industry demands lubricants that meet stringent technical requirements. At the same time, transparent information on the environmental characteristics of products is becoming increasingly important. Under the heading ‘Alternative Lubricants’, we present only those products that meet at least one of the following three defined and verifiable criteria:

  • Specific degradability in accordance with the OECD 301 B standard: Lubricants based on readily biodegradable base oils (excluding additives). This reduces the risks to soil and water in the event of accidental release into the environment.

  • Renewable raw materials: Formulations containing base oils (excluding additives) whose raw material base comprises renewable, plant-based resources, with the aim of reducing the use of fossil petroleum reserves.

  • Official certification: Lubricants that have been awarded the EU Ecolabel, the Blue Angel or the H1 label. These government-recognised eco-labels confirm compliance with strict, independent testing criteria regarding environmental impact throughout the product life cycle and technical performance.
