CARBON FOOTPRINT AT ROWE

The topic of CO₂ emissions is increasingly dominating the economy. Many of you are also increasingly concerned with topics such as Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) or Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). With this newsletter, we want to give you an overview of how ROWE is currently positioned on this topic.

ROWE has already been preparing a carbon footprint in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standard since 2019. Scopes 1, 2 and 3 are balanced. Scope 1 comprises direct emissions in our own company, Scope 2 those from the use of energy that we purchase. The indirect release of gases in the upstream and downstream supply chain falls under Scope 3. We have already defined reduction targets and measures for Scope 1 and 2. For Scope 3, a supplier questionnaire was distributed to determine the data from the upstream chain more precisely. Offset unavoidable CO₂ emissions in accordance with the recognized Gold Standard.

Currently, there is no uniform method for calculating PCFs for lubricants in the supply chain. The European lubricants association UEIL is working with other associations (including UNITI, VSI and ATIEL) on a uniform guideline. The associations expect this to be available in the second half of 2023.
