ROWE RACING battles for the Gold Cup title at Portimão

ROWE RACING heads to Portimão for the GT World Challenge Europe season finale with high hopes: Spa winners Philipp Eng and Marco Wittmann are back, whilst Jens Klingmann, Tim Tramnitz and Ugo de Wilde, who lead the Gold Cup standings, will be fighting for the title.

ROWE RACING: Two Spa winners return for the season finale –
with their sights set on the Gold Cup title

Philipp Eng and Marco Wittmann are returning to the ROWE RACING line-up for the final race weekend of the season. The two BMW M works drivers won the 2023 Spa 24 Hours together and will be driving the #98 BMW M4 GT3 EVO in Portimão alongside Jake Dennis.

They are replacing Augusto Farfus and Raffaele Marciello, who are competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the same time. With their experience and successful track record with the team, Eng and Wittmann are set to help round off the season with a strong result.

Gold Cup: ROWE RACING heads to Portugal as championship leaders

The final race promises to be particularly exciting for the crew of the #998 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Jens Klingmann, Tim Tramnitz and Ugo de Wilde lead the Gold Cup standings ahead of the season’s final race and are in a strong position to win the championship for ROWE RACING.

The trio of drivers laid the foundations for this with consistently strong performances throughout the season. Podium finishes at Le Castellet and Monza, as well as the Gold Cup class victory at the 24 Hours of Spa, have put them in an excellent position heading into the decisive race weekend.

A demanding challenge at the Algarve Circuit

The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is one of the most spectacular race tracks in Europe. It is characterised by steep changes in elevation, rapid changes of direction and numerous crest sections, all of which demand the utmost concentration from drivers and cars alike.

For ROWE RACING, the track offers another opportunity to gather valuable insights under extreme conditions. In keeping with the principle of ‘from the racetrack to the shelf’, the experience gained from professional motorsport is continuously incorporated into the further development of ROWE’s high-performance lubricants and coolants.

The season finale therefore promises not only thrilling racing action, but also offers the chance to crown a successful racing season with yet another title win.

“I’m very pleased that we’ll be working with Philipp Eng and Marco Wittmann again at the season finale. Both have enjoyed major successes with ROWE RACING, know our team extremely well and are excellent replacements for Augusto Farfus and Raffaele Marciello, who will be competing in the WEC this weekend. In the Gold Cup, Jens Klingmann, Tim Tramnitz and Ugo de Wilde have the opportunity to cap a strong season with the title. From the outset, our goal was to support the development of the two young drivers through our mentoring project while giving them the opportunity to fight for the championship right through to the season finale. The three have achieved exactly that with consistently strong performances. We can already be proud of that. However, with the margins so tight and the competition so strong, the outcome will be anything but straightforward. Portimão also presents new challenges for us as a team. The significant elevation changes and partially blind corners demand a great deal from the drivers. As we haven’t raced there before, we also lack some valuable experience. It will be crucial to adapt quickly to the conditions and remain focused throughout the weekend. We’re looking forward to an exciting season finale.”
