A new chapter for ROWE

A contribution from Michael Zehe, Managing Director of ROWE

This is about the future of ROWE. The coming year will see a new milestone for our company. Because after more than 28 years, I will now hand over responsibility for ROWE to my daughter Alexandra Kohlmann.

ROWE is an incredible success story

When I started mixing engine oils and filling antifreeze in a small workshop with only two mixing kettles in 1995, I had no idea how big ROWE would become one day.

Today, more than 15 companies with over 300 employees belong to the ROWE Group. We sell our products in over 80 countries worldwide and generate sales of over 160 million euros. Our plant in Worms sets new standards for innovation and sustainability in the industry. We also sponsor some of the world's best soccer clubs - and have our own racing team, which is one of the world's most successful endurance teams in GT3 racing.

A real endurance race

What a development. The past 28 years resemble an endurance race with the same challenges. Many ups and downs, mastering many difficult situations, an endless amount of work and the willingness to take big risks again and again have ultimately led to success.

Setting the course for the future

As the founder, ROWE is very close to my heart. That is why it is important to me to set the course now for a strong future. ROWE is a family business. My daughter Alexandra Kohlmann has been working in the company for eight years, and as my co-managing director for several years. Now it's time for the next step - and that's why I will be giving Alexandra sole responsibility for ROWE on January 1, 2024.

My new role at ROWE

But I won't be leaving ROWE - how could I? That's why we are establishing a new advisory board at ROWE, of which I will be a member. In addition, I will focus on future fields within the ROWE Group in the field of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. Of course, I will remain with the company as a shareholder.

The future begins now

A new chapter is now beginning for ROWE. I look back on the past 28 years with great pride. Alexandra will now take over the shaping of ROWE's future with all her strength and commitment - and that makes me proud and happy as a father.

About the person

In 1995, Dipl.-Ing. Michael Zehe (born 1960) laid the foundation stone for the success story of ROWE in Flörsheim-Dalsheim, Rheinhessen, which is unparalleled in the industry. What began as a venture in the workshop of his parents' business, Michael Zehe built up in just a few years to become a global player and pioneer in the lubricants industry. With the opening of the plant in Worms in 2014, Michael Zehe successfully turned his vision of building one of the most modern production facilities for lubricants in Europe into reality.
